We’re thrilled to announce our 2014 Santolin Individual Vineyard Nero d’Avola has been awarded a medallion, the highest honour, at this year’s Winewise Championships for ‘Best Italian Varietal.’
This wine show is entered by invitation only, and to qualify for entry your wine must have been awarded a gold medal from a select group of Australia’s major qualifying wine shows the previous year. Over 400 wines were invited to participate. All wines are tasted blind and then reviewed.
This year the judging panel included high profile wine journalists and winemakers such as Lester Jesberg and Tim Kirk.
‘Here we see the enormous potential for Nero d’Avola in Australia. The dark cherry aromas have a hint of blackcurrant, and the palate is generous and long, with a good tannin balance.’ (Judges notes).
