2022 Cosa Nostra Fiano Takes Top Honours at the Australian Italian Varieties Wine Awards
Santolin Wines is proud to announce that our 2022 Cosa Nostra Fiano has been awarded Champion of Show and Best White Wine at the 2025 Australian Italian Varieties Wine Awards.
TThe Australian Italian Varieties Wine Show, hosted in Griffith, NSW, draws some of the country’s most talented producers working with Italian grapes. To be recognised as the standout white wine and overall champion among such strong competition is a testament to the dedication and detail behind the Cosa Nostra range.
Winemaker Adrian Santolin said, “What I love about Fiano - and Southern Italian varieties in general - is how they are so well suited to Australian conditions. Fiano can handle warm climates incredibly well, it holds onto its intense flavours and natural acidity. In the winery, it’s versatile - whether I ferment it wild, leave it on lees or play with skin contact, it always holds true. These varieties bring something genuinely interesting to the Australian landscape. This trophy is validation of the work we’re doing with Italian varieties and Fiano in particular, which I personally love. It's a variety that I believe we should all get behind as an industry and transform it from a niche to mainstream wine.”
The 2022 Cosa Nostra Fiano has quickly become a standout in our portfolio, offering lifted aromatics, bright acidity and a textural palate that continues to capture the attention of both critics and consumers. We’d like to extend our thanks to the Riverina Winemakers Association for hosting such a well-run event and to the award sponsors, MCC Labels and Medlog Transport & Logistics, for their ongoing support of the industry.
