GOLD!

GOLD!

Our not-yet-released 2020 Santolin ‘Gladysdale’ Chardonnay has been awarded GOLD and 95+ points at these three shows in the past week, and we’re pretty bloody stoked…

The jewel in our crown is the 96 points it scored at the James Halliday Australian Chardonnay & Cabernet Challenge. This is an event that celebrates the world’s most popular two varieties and Australia’s outstanding regional diversity.  It is one of the most prominent wine awards in the country. Our Chardonnay came runner-up in the Yarra Valley category, being pipped at the post by Yarra Yering, who scored 97 points.

Next up, it won a GOLD medal and scored 95 points at the Melbourne Royal Wine Awards, one of Australia’s oldest and most respected wine shows recognising and rewarding excellence in Australian winemaking. It was one of only two Yarra Valley chardonnays awarded a gold medal.

It also impressed the judges on our home turf, with the Yarra Valley Wine Show awarding it a GOLD medal and scoring it 95 points as well.

The 2020 vintage was one of the best we’ve had here in the Yarra Valley in recent times and despite all the challenges 2020 threw at us, we’re stoked to see all the hard yards have paid off.

Finally, we can wave goodbye to 2021, a year that seemed it would never end at times – and do so on a high.
